Advocis, The Financial Advisors Association of Canada, is the oldest and largest voluntary professional membership association of financial advisors and planners in Canada. We are the home and the voice of Canada’s financial advisors.

It takes a number of energetic volunteers to make your Ottawa Chapter of Advocis the large, vibrant, and successful Chapter that it is. Ottawa has consistently been among the best-run and most innovative Chapters in Canada and none of this is possible without our dedicated Board of Directors and committee volunteers. Many Directors serve for several years and in multiple roles. A constant renewal of the Board is both a fact of life and desirable, as we like to involve more members and try fresh ideas. Most volunteers find that their work with Advocis:

- improves their knowledge of our industry,

- develops friendships with industry colleagues and

- improves their business image.

You may not have considered volunteering before, but there is a first time for everything. What differentiates the top 5% from the rest is their willingness to take action while others wait for leadership to emerge. I ask you to take a chance, step into a new role that may only take a few hours a month and see how you like it. We have plenty of experienced Board members to help guide you into your chosen role and want to see you succeed.
