Vice-President’s role
1. Mandate.
- The 1st Vice President assists the President to oversee the activities of the Ottawa Chapter
- Works closely with President to have a better understanding of President’s role and assist on as needed basis.
- Prepare for the year following by assisting with board nomination process
- Identify key areas for following year as President, and get to know board members in those positions, guiding them towards next year’s mandate.
2. Committee Formation
- The 1st Vice President does not normally form a committee. The position oversees the activities of committees as agreed with the President
3. Summary of Duties Monthly
- Attend all Board meetings
- Preside over the Board meeting in the absence of the President
- Preside over general meetings as necessary
4. Preparation for Presidency
- Start to prepare the platform in September (to be completed by October 30), things to include
- Who would you like to see sitting on the board?
- Board meetings, location and time – in the past, 2nd Thursday of the month at lunch, from noon until 2pm
- Membership objectives for the year, and strategies to achieve them?
- PD days, is there a theme you would like to see, carried throughout the year, discuss with incoming PD day chair
