Important Changes to RHU Designation

RHU to CHS – new Certified Health Insurance Specialist launched by The Institute

Effective June 1, 2011 The Institute launched a new designation for expertise in Living Benefits.  The Certified Health Insurance Specialist (CHS) will now replace the RHU as the designation supported by The Institute.  Current RHU designates have until October 26, 2011 to exchange their RHU for the CHS and you cannot hold yourself out as both.  It is important to make the change otherwise you will fall under the new program of CHS and will require one additional course to obtain your CHS.  The additional course must be one of the following: CFP 232 – Contemporary Practices in Financial Planning, CFP 233 – Comprehensive Practices in Risk and Retirement Planning or CFP 234 Wealth Management and Estate Planning.  If you have your CFP designation then you have the elective course required.  CHS candidates who have completed one of these core-curriculum courses leading to the CFP or CLU designation but do not hold the designation itself must have completed the course(s) within the last four years in order for it to fulfill the CHS elective requirement.

For a limited time, the RHU course is still being offered under the 2 course requirement which can then be converted to the CHS.  You must be enrolled in the RHU program by AUGUST 31, 2011 and you will have until APRIL 30, 2012 to finish the designation which you can then exchange for the CHS.

For anyone looking at this designation, I would encourage you to sign up now and also take the time to register for our Study Group session to assist you in the first course studies.

More information on the Study Group is available at the link below.
